The Viera Stewardship District, as with other special Districts throughout the State of Florida, is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors. These individuals act in much the same way as a City or County Commissioner, in that they are public servants for the citizens in the community they serve. Supervisors for the Viera Stewardship District are governed by the same laws as other governmental officials, including the Sunshine Law and Public Records Law.

The Board of Supervisors for the District consist of five members, who are elected in landowner elections until the District is five years old. During that November election, one member will be elected through the General Election process, conducted by the Brevard County Supervisor of Elections, where interested candidates must qualify to run for a seat on the Board, much like a City Commissioner or other publicly elected official. This election was held on November 6, 2012, where Ms. Tiffani Bissett qualified and was elected to Seat 2. When the District is 10 years old, a second member will be elected through the General Election process, all as outlined in Chapter 2006-360, Laws of Florida.
